Staff Accountant Newark, NJ (Full-Time, On-Site) $80,000 – $90,000 DOE Schedule: On-site, with potential for remote Fridays once fully trained Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join our finance team at our Newark headquarters. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in general accounting, including general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities. This role requires someone who can work independently, maintain accurate financial records, and collaborate effectively with multiple departments. Key Responsibilities Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for monthly and year-end close. Maintain general ledger accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and ensure proper account classifications. Manage fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, prepaid expenses, and accruals. Record accounting-related payments in the ERP system and support the Accounts Payable team as needed. Prepare and reconcile sales tax data for external accountants and address related inquiries. Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation. Assist with audits by preparing schedules and gathering necessary documentation. Collaborate with Finance, Purchasing, AP, and Operations teams to ensure accurate accounting processes. Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience, including general ledger reconciliations and month-end close. Strong understanding of journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and general accounting principles. Strong Excel skills, including XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and Pivot Tables. Experience working with accounting software or ERP systems. Familiarity with fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and inventory accounting is a plus. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and communicate effectively. Email resumes to
